Overview
Immerse yourself in Kenya’s wildlife and culture by getting up close to giraffes, discovering the craftsmanship of Kazuri beads, and learning about African conservation efforts.
Your Giraffe Centre and Kazuri Beads Tour starts with a convenient hotel pick-up in Nairobi, followed by a scenic drive to the Giraffe Centre located in the Karen suburb.
Upon arrival, you’ll receive a brief introduction to the Rothschild’s giraffe, an endangered species native to Kenya. You’ll then have the chance to feed the giraffes from a raised platform, getting up close and personal with these gentle giants.
After feeding the giraffes, enjoy some free time to explore the Giraffe Centre at your leisure. You can visit the education centre to learn more about giraffe conservation or simply relax and watch the giraffes graze in their natural habitat.
Following your visit to the Giraffe Centre, you’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Kazuri Beads Factory. Kazuri Beads is a women’s cooperative that produces beautiful, handmade beads and jewelry.
At the factory, you’ll take a guided tour to witness the bead-making process, from mixing clay to firing the beads. You’ll also learn about the history of Kazuri Beads and its mission to empower women in the community.
After the tour, you’ll have time to browse and shop for unique Kazuri beads and jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and home décor items.
Finally, you’ll be driven back to your hotel in Nairobi, reflecting on a day filled with wildlife, culture, and craftsmanship.
